Description

Setsuko Saya has been the Deputy Director of OECD Development Centre since 1 February 2024. Ms. Saya started her professional career at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism in the Japanese Government, where she has gained her expertise on infrastructure, urban development and disaster risk reduction. Before joining OECD/DEV, she was the Special Advisor to the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism regarding the G7 Sustainable Urban Development Ministers’ Meeting, and the Vice-President of the Urban Renaissance Agency. She was leading the Japanese Delegation to the UN Disaster Risk Reduction 2016-2019, and the Head of the Regional Policies for Sustainable Development in the OECD 2012-2016. Ms. Saya has a Master’s Degree in business administration from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s Degree in law from the University of Tokyo.
