Description

Mr Shimohori Tomokazu has been a Director for Radioactive Waste Management Policy Division at Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI) since July 2021. His primary responsibility includes policies related to the management and disposal of wastes from the decommissioning of nuclear power plants and high-level radioactive waste. He joined METI in 2001 and prior to his current role, he held senior positions in various policy areas including Director for Global Environment Partnership Office at the Industrial Science and Technology Policy and Environment Bureau, and Director for Gas Market Office at the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy, as well as Secretary to the Minister of State for Regional Revitalization at the Cabinet Office. Mr. Shimohori holds a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Tokyo and Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Washington in the U.S.
