Penny Lucas

Township of Ignace

Job title

Mayor Penny Lucas grew up and raised her family in Northwestern Ontario. When she started looking for a place to retire, she explored and fell in love with Ignace, eventually choosing it as her hometown. “There has never been anything that I have learned or been involved in that hasn’t helped me somewhere, somehow, sometime further on down the road”, says Ms Lucas, “whether it be a formal course or something learned by doing.” Ms Lucas has always been an active member of her community, volunteering, participating in research and serving on a number of boards and committees. She currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Kenora District Social Services Board, as the Treasurer of the Ignace Silver Tops Seniors Centre, as the Kenora District Municipal Association (KDMA) Executive, and is involved in the Lions Club. The greatest achievement of Ms Lucas however has been to raise two children and is blessed with five wonderful grandchildren. “I give gratitude everyday for the life I am fortunate enough to live”.
