Description
Mr Frédéric Plas has been the head of the Research and Development Division of Andra since 2013. He is in charge of Andra's scientific and associated technical studies and research program. With over one hundred staff, his Division takes advantage of Andra’s research tools, the Bure URL and the long-term environment observatory (OPE) in Meuse / Haute Marne departments, supporting the development of the Cigéo project.
Mr Plas began his career in the 1980s at the CEA in a research laboratory on radioactive waste, before joining Andra in the 1990s in the scientific division. During the last 25 years, various managing positions allowed Frédéric Plas to become familiar with a wide range of scientific disciplines (geosciences, materials sciences, radiochemistry, applied mathematics, etc.) in close link with design and safety studies, in particular for the Cigéo project (from its feasibility to the licensing application).
Mr Plas is a civil engineer with a higher education diploma in mechanics and hydraulics.
