Description

Dr. Kimberly Petry leads the Office of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary as well as the Office of Integrated Waste Management as the Acting Director with responsibility for planning, evaluations and preparations for transport and disposal of spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste and the possibility of interim storage for spent nuclear fuel. Dr. Petry has also worked extensively in matters involving the management of national laboratory infrastructure and operations, and the promotion of environmental sustainability. She is a subject matter expert on waste management, green building, and sustainability for the Office of Nuclear Energy. Dr. Petry earned her Ph.D. in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland, her MS in Environmental Science and Policy from Johns Hopkins University, and her BA from McDaniel College in French. She is a Federal Project Director and a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Accredited Professional with a specialty in Building Design and Construction.
