Masakazu Hamachi

State Minister, Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare

Masakazu Hamachi is a member of the House of Representatives, Komeito party and in September 2023 was appointed as State Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare. A 1994 graduate of Faculty of Law, Waseda University, he first joined UBS securities Japan Co., Ltd and then joined a major condominium development and sales company. He passed the national examination for Shiho-shoshi (Judicial Scriveners) in 2002 and the national bar examination in 2006 with the registration as an attorney in 2008. Since he was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2012, he has served as a member of House of Representatives for four terms. Previously he served as Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs (3rd Abe Reshuffled Cabinet).
