Vlastimil Válek

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health

Vlastimil Válek was born in 1960 in Brno. He studied at the Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University, with an attestation in the field of radiodiagnostics. Since 1985 pursuing various positions at the University Hospital Brno–Bohunice, where he is currently leading the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. He was chairman of the Czech Radiological Society for the period 2014 to 2017. Since 1993 working at the Faculty of Medicine at Masaryk University. He became professor of radiology in 2003. Member of several national and international professional organisations. Member of the Parliament since 2017, vice-chairman of the TOP09 Party since 2019. He became the Minister of Health and Deputy Prime Minister in December 2021. Prof. Válek speaks English and German. His hobbies include dulcimer music, choir singing, literature and Czech art.
