Riina Sikkut

Minister of Health

Riina Sikkut is the Minister of Health Affairs from 17 april 2023. She is a member of the Social Democratic Party. Riina Sikkut was born in Inju on 12 January 1983. She is married and has three daughters. Sikkut joined the Social Democratic Party in 2018 and serves as the party’s deputy chairman. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY AND CAREER • In 2022 – 2023, she was the Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure. • In 2019–2022, she was a member of the 14th Riigikogu. • In 2018–2019, she was the Minister of Health and Labour. • In 2017–2018, she was an advisor of social and health policy at the Government Office. • In 2011–2017, she was a health policy programme analyst at the Praxis Political Research Centre and in 2012–2013, served as its programme manager. • In 2008–2009, she worked as a specialist of the Credit Risk Control Department at Swedbank. • In 2005–2008, she worked as an economic analyst at the Ministry of Finance. EDUCATION Sikkut graduated from the University of Tartu in 2005 with a degree in economy; in 2010, she graduated with a master’s degree in health policy from the University of London.
