Petra Doerr
Director of the European Directorate for Quality of Medicines and HealthCare (EDQM)
Dr Doerr is the Director of the EDQM since 1st September 2021.
A pharmacist and PhD, her vast professional career has focused on medical products regulation and international regulatory affairs.
She held the position of Vice President Regulatory Affairs Europe, Africa and Asia at Valeant Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
In October 2004, she joined Swissmedic, the Swiss authority responsible for the authorisation and supervision of therapeutic products, as the Head of International Affairs.
In 2007, she became the Head of Management Services & Networking and a Member of the Management Board, and was responsible for national and international collaboration and communications activities.
From January 2014 until June 2019, she became Head of Communication & Networking and Deputy Executive Director.
From July 2019 to October 2020, she was the Director and owner of Petra Doerr Consulting Ltd., providing consultancy services to the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other non-profit organisation.
She then joined the WHO as the Head of Unit Regulation & Safety at the Regulation and Prequalification (RPQ) Department, Access to Medicines and Health Products (MHP) Division.
She is and has been a member and Chair of several International fora - the ICH Management Committee, ICH Assembly, the International Pharmaceutical Regulators Forum (IPRP) Management Committee, the Scientific Advisory Council of the Centre for Innovation in Regulatory Science.
