Description

Rudi Delarue is President of the Belgian National Labour Council since May 2020. He has been deputy Head of Unit for international issues and Senior Expert at the European Commission, DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion between 2013 and April 2020 where he has been dealing with e.g. the employment and social dimension of Brexit, the interplay between international trade and labour, EU neighbourhood policy, EU enlargement and the employment, labour and social affairs dimensions in multilateral organisations such as ILO, UN, OECD and Council of Europe and the multilateral forums G7 and G20. He has been Director of the ILO Office for the EU and the Benelux countries between 2008 and 2013. Prior to taking up this position he was a principal administrator at the European Commission where he held posts relating to EU social dialogue and industrial relations, EU-ILO relations and promoting decent work and the social dimension of globalisation. Between1987-1999 he was senior advisor and negotiator at the Belgian Christian trade union confederation (ACV/CSC) dealing with regional, national, EU and international labour issues. He has been member (1989-1999) of the Belgian National Labour Council, sector social committees, dual learning system for SMEs in Flanders, the EU Social Dialogue Committee and the ILO Committee on the Application of Standards. He published on national, EU and international labour relations, on EU integration and the EU role in shaping the social dimension of globalisation. He has been president of Arktos VZW, an NGO dealing with youth at risk, and he is volunteer in different local activities in Mechelen.
