Description
Julie Collins is the Deputy Director-General for Policy and Trade at the Ministry for Primary Industries. She brings over 30 years of experience in primary industries and resource-use policy in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Throughout her career, she has held senior roles across a wide range of areas, including climate change, the Emissions Trading Scheme, forestry, biosecurity, animal welfare, and food policy. She recently led Te Uru Rākau, the forestry branch of MPI, and has also worked in food safety standards. Julie's earlier roles include positions at the New Zealand Forest Service, the Ministry of Forestry, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. She also spent 15 years working for the UK government, focusing on community forestry, reform of the Common Agricultural Policy, and rural development initiatives.
