Description
Franz Tattenbach is the current Minister of Environment and Energy of Costa Rica. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics from Cornell University and is a Ph.D. candidate at the same institution. Minister Tattenbach brings decades of experience in environmental policy and sustainable development. He served as Costa Rica’s Climate Change Ambassador from 1996 to 2004, and as Team Leader of USAID’s FORESTA program between 1991 and 1993. He was also Executive Director of FUNDECOR, a Costa Rican NGO recognized with the King Baudouin International Development Prize in 2000. From 2010 to 2012, he was President and CEO of the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD).
Throughout his career, Minister Tattenbach has been recognized for his leadership in advancing environmental conservation, climate action, and international cooperation.
