Animal Welfare: A new pillar of the OECD Guidelines. Strategies for brands

Feb 23, 2024 | 8:00 AM - 9:15 AM

Description

Organised by: FOUR PAWS International and OECD Watch In 2023, the OECD released a targeted update of the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct, which for the first time calls on businesses to uphold good animal welfare standards in their policies and practices. While many companies are taking steps forward to improve animal welfare within their supply chains, many are yet to make it a significant priority and/or are grappling with how to properly address animal welfare risks. During this session, attendees will hear directly from OECD Watch as to what these new guidelines mean for business, and from FOUR PAWS as to how textiles companies are fulfilling and can best fulfill them. The session will also provide insights from a panel of key experts on the: - Australian wool industry’s progress to end mulesing, and what brands can do to assist, and - the next-gen material industry, and where it’s at on achieving quality and scale, as well as why and how best to incorporate next-gen materials into collections.
