Description

Ukraine has embarked on an ambitious path of reform of its anti-corruption and public integrity institutions and systems, a task which has gained further urgency with Russia’s full-scale war of aggression on Ukraine. On this path, Ukraine has expressed its aspiration to align with OECD anti-corruption and integrity standards, and the OECD responded with a comprehensive Anti-Corruption and Integrity Review of Ukraine’s existing frameworks and efforts against its standards and good practices. The recommendations from the Review will help Ukraine design and implement comprehensive and inclusive integrity and anti-corruption strategies and policies, measures to foster a culture of integrity in the public sector, promote transparency and integrity in decision-making, enhance inter-institutional cooperation, assess and mitigate business integrity risks, improve its system of incentives for anti-corruption-compliant business conduct, and safeguard reconstruction efforts from corruption. These efforts are bringing Ukraine closer to OECD anti-corruption and integrity standards, including the 2017 Recommendation on Public Integrity and the 2021 Recommendation for Combating Bribery in International Business Transactions, while also contributing to evidence-based progress on EU accession. This side event will present key findings from the forthcoming OECD Anti-Corruption and Integrity Review of Ukraine and identify priority reform areas for Ukraine’s anti-corruption and integrity system.
