Side Event: Bridging the Gaps: Integrity and Anti-Corruption in Latin America and the Caribbean

Mar 26, 2026 | 2:30 PM - 4:30 PM

closed-door, by invitation only

Description

Latin American and Caribbean countries have made commitments to strengthen integrity and anti-corruption frameworks under the 2018 Action Plan for Integrity and Good Governance. However, significant implementation gaps persist across the region, limiting the effectiveness of these frameworks in practice. This side event will focus on practical strategies for bridging implementation gaps across the region. The session is designed for integrity practitioners and policymakers from the LAC region working on anti-corruption, public ethics and related governance areas. Building on the Anti-Corruption and Integrity Regional Insights Brief presented at the Third OECD Ministerial Summit on Governance in Asunción, Paraguay, in December 2025, the session provides a platform for peer learning on translating commitments into concrete results. Participants will discuss common challenges and good practices across six priority areas identified in the Regional Insights Brief: (1) addressing undue influence in political decision-making; (2) empowering civil servants; (3) promoting integrity at subnational levels; (4) identifying and managing integrity risks; (5) addressing impunity through transparent and effective enforcement mechanisms; and (6) leveraging data and technology.
