Ahto has extensive and long standing experience in the field of information technology, having worked for many years in various roles in the private sector before transitioning to the public sector. For several years now, he has served as the Administrative Director at the Chancellery of the Riigikogu, where he is responsible for both strategic and operational leadership in the IT domain. His duties include planning, developing, implementing and continuously improving IT solutions that ensure the smooth functioning of the workflows of the Riigikogu and the Chancellery.
In addition to overseeing technical solutions, Ahto also leads the broader infrastructure domain, which includes the management of the physical working environment as well as the security and reliability of digital systems. His role is to ensure that all necessary conditions — from organisational processes and IT infrastructure to user support services — are in place to enable the Riigikogu to carry out its constitutional duties effectively.
