Our Autumn series of thematic online sessions continued on Thursday 27 November with an exchange on Supporting Novice Teachers – Insights from the OECD Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) 2024.
TALIS aims to help policymakers and education leaders craft informed strategies to improve teaching quality and learning environments. In 2024, it sampled about 280 000 teachers and school leaders at 17 000 lower secondary schools across 55 education systems.
During the session, participants discussed findings from The State of Teaching, the report based on TALIS results, which highlights that nine in ten teachers across OECD education systems report being satisfied with their jobs overall, and almost three-quarters would choose to work as a teacher again if given the choice. Almost 95% of teachers surveyed also say they often feel happy while teaching.
The session featured a presentation by Ruochen Li, TALIS Senior Project Manager in the OECD Directorate for Education and Skills, followed by an interactive dialogue. Interpretation was provided in English, French and Spanish.
This session was open to Members of Parliament and Parliamentary Officials.
