Description
Sage Kugathasan is a Vice President in MUFG's Blended & Climate Finance team based in London, where he specializes in the origination and structuring of blended finance and climate finance transactions for emerging markets.
Having joined MUFG in 2016 and the Blended & Climate Finance team in 2025, he brings 10 years of Investment Banking experience. Sage works with development finance institutions, governments, and private-sector investors to deploy financing solutions that mobilize capital for climate and sustainable infrastructure opportunities. His experience spans transaction origination, stakeholder engagement, and the design of financing structures that help address investment barriers and attract private capital into emerging markets.
Prior to joining the Blended & Climate Finance team, Sage established MUFG's European Commodity Finance Desk in Amsterdam, specializing in environmental commodity markets including renewable energy certificates, carbon credits, and biofuels. He holds a BSc from the University of York, a Sustainable Finance Certificate from the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, and is CAIA certified.
