Description

Alain Pellet is professor emeritus of public international law at the University Paris Nanterre, where he directed the Centre de droit international (CEDIN) for ten years. From 1990 to 2011, he was a member of the United Nations International Law Commission, which he chaired in 1997; he is a member and former chairperson of the Institut de droit international and honorary president of the Société française pour le droit international. He has acted as counsel and advocate before a number of international courts and tribunals, including in more than seventy cases before the International Court of Justice, and has participated as arbitrator or advocate in several arbitration proceedings concerning investment disputes. He is the author or co-author of numerous articles and books on international law, including the French treatise of Droit international public (9th edition, 2022).
