Description
Itumeleng Kgosietsile is the acting Director Technical Services in the Domestic Taxes Division of the Botswana Unified Revenue Service (BURS). She is the current Chairperson of the ATAF Indirect Tax Technical Committee (ITC). She previously was a member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) VAT Working Group for several years.
Itumeleng has a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Botswana and a master’s degree in International Taxation from the University of Sydney, Australia.
She has worked in the Botswana VAT department since its inception in 2002. Her portfolio includes among others, management and issuance of tax rulings, providing VAT policy direction guiding the Team in developing Guidance Notes, Technical Notes and Directives, as well as chairing the Objection and Appeals Committee of the BURS, the committee mandated to resolve tax issues before the Board of Adjudicators (Tribunal).
