BERNARD APPY is an economist. From 2023 to 2025 he was the Extraordinary Secretary for Tax Reform in the Ministry of Finance in Brazil.
Previously, Mr. Appy was:
• Director at Centro de Cidadania Fiscal (CCiF), an independent think tank created to contribute to the improvement of the Brazilian tax system (2015-2022);
• Partner and director at LCA Consultores, a consultancy firm (1995-2002 and 2011-2014);
• Director at the Brazilian Stock and Futures Exchange - BM&FBovespa (2009-2011);
• Deputy Minister, Secretary for Economic Policy and Extraordinary Secretary for Fiscal and Economic Reforms in the Ministry of Finance in Brazil (2002-2009);
• Professor in the Economics Department at the Catholic University in São Paulo (1996-2002);
• Chairman of the board of Banco do Brasil (2003-2009).
