Description

Jakub Boratyński is the Director for Compliance and Responsible Business Conduct at the European Commission’s DG GROW, where he works to improve the EU business environment by promoting responsible business conduct, advance digitalisation, and fair competition within the Single Market. From 2022 to 2025, he led policies on services, professional qualifications, skills, and market surveillance in DG GROW, while also supporting industrial alliances and managing communication with EU institutions. Previously, at DG CNECT (2014–2021), Jakub focused on cybersecurity, contributing to key legislation (NIS1, NIS2, Cybersecurity Act), 5G security policy, and cooperation with ENISA. Between 2009 and 2013, he headed the Organised Crime Unit at DG Home Affairs, tackling cybercrime, child protection, and asset confiscation, and helped establish the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3). Earlier roles included work on EU-Russia relations, leadership at the Stefan Batory Foundation, and service with the UNHCR. Jakub holds degrees in International Relations and Law from the University of Warsaw and the London School of Economics.
