Biography

Aleksandra Tomaszewska is Director of the Department of Research and Innovation at Poland’s Ministry of Digital Affairs. Her work focuses on the intersection of public policy, research, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation. As Director, she oversees initiatives supporting evidence-based technology policy, responsible and transparent AI, strategic research and innovation projects, access to advanced technologies, and cooperation with scientific, public-sector, and international partners. She is also involved in work on AI-related regulation and in representing Poland in international research and innovation initiatives. She is a co-creator of PLLuM, the Polish Large Language Model. Alongside her work in public administration, she conducts research in corpus linguistics and natural language processing. She is also involved in teaching and in promoting knowledge of artificial intelligence and related technologies. Before assuming her current position, she served as an expert at the Ministry of Digital Affairs and was a member of the Ministry’s Working Group on Artificial Intelligence. In 2025, she was named by Perspektywy among the 100 Women in Tech in Poland.
