Biography
Senator Alison Comyn is a Fianna Fáil Senator, former journalist and news anchor with more than 30 years’ experience in Irish media and public life. She currently serves as Chair of the Oireachtas Women’s Caucus, where she works to advance issues affecting women across political, social and community spheres, especially survivors of domestic abuse.
A strong advocate for women’s safety, equality and opportunity, Alison has worked closely with organisations including Soroptimists and Ruhama, supporting awareness and policy discussions around human trafficking, exploitation and the need for alternative pathways and supports for women involved in sex work.
Alison is also Seanad spokesperson on Arts, Media, Culture and Sport, and works tirelessly in her own community on regeneration, housing, infrastructure and supporting local organisations and voluntary groups.
