Présentation

Commissioner Díaz has a degree in Economics from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, with Master´s studies in Economics from El Colegio de México. On April 25, 2018, he was appointed as Commissioner of the Federal Telecommunications Institute for a 9-year period, by qualified majority in the Senate. He has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications sector, during which he has participated and has been responsible for various relevant projects within the sector, such as interconnection regulation, imposition of asymmetric regulation, number portability, among others. More recently, as Commissioner he has engaged and actively participated in the regulation process and resolution of net neutrality, mergers, use of the radio spectrum, infrastructure sharing and deployment and many others. He has been a keynote speaker and guest speaker in several events on topics such as Competition policy, Investments in Infrastructure, 5G regulation, Connectivity in Latin America, Digital Platforms and has algo been an advocate for competition matters, especially regarding the regulation of digital platforms in Mexico. He is currently Vice-Chair of the OECD´s Working Party on Communication Infrastructure and Services Policy.
