Johnny Gerard Plate was appointed as the Minister of Communication and Informatics of the Republic of Indonesia on 23 October 2019, as a part of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet under President Joko Widodo’s Administration. Previously, Johnny started his business in the early 1980s and later, together with his colleagues, he ex- panded into the world of aviation and became a Commissioner at Air Asia. Prior to becoming the Minister of Communication and Informatics in the Onward Indonesia Cabinet for 2014-2019, Johny was selected as a member of U Commission, House of Representatives of Indonesia. Johnny graduated from the Catholic University of Atma Jaya, Jakarta.
