Despite the many benefits of e-commerce’s rapid growth and the digital transformation, consumers have been exposed to new commercial practices raising ongoing and emerging risks and challenges. These include a variety of dark commercial patterns, unsafe products available for sale online, and personalisation practices likely to exploit consumer biases and vulnerabilities online.
This panel will explore the consumer harm resulting from these risks and challenges, and discuss what measures may be needed to strengthen consumer empowerment and protection online.
