With over 21 years of distinguished service as a civil servant, Thelma Ohene-Asiamah leads the Public Sector Reform Secretariat (PSRS) as the bureaucratic head, where she spearheads initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and deliver transformative governance across Ghana’s public sector. Thelma’s career has been marked by pivotal roles in the Office of the Senior Minister and the Ministries of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and Lands and Natural Resources. In these capacities, she has championed innovative strategies to optimize workforce performance and resource management, driving sustainable progress in public administration. At the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Thelma worked on issues relating to women empowerment, well-being of children, aged, persons with disability among others. As a Commonwealth Scholar, Thelma earned an MBA from the University of Glasgow, equipping her with a global perspective on leadership and governance. Thelma’s commitment to excellence was recognized with the prestigious Commendation for Excellent Performance from the Head of the Ghana Civil Service, honoring her leadership, dedication, and outstanding contributions to public sector reform. In her role as Ghana’s Open Government Partnership (OGP) Point of Contact, Thelma has been instrumental in advancing transparent and accountable governance. She led the development and implementation of Ghana’s 2021-2023 National Action Plan (NAP-4), restoring the nation’s standing in the OGP and securing a first-place win in the 2023 OGP Impact Awards for Africa and the Middle East, as well as a third-place finish in 2021. Thelma also led the development and adoption of Ghana’s fifth Open Government Partnership National Action Plan (NAP-5) spanning the period 2023-2027. Thelma’s passion for public service is matched by a steadfast commitment to creating meaningful change, building inclusive systems, and inspiring others to contribute to a stronger, more transparent future for Ghana.
