Ian Hodgkinson (BSc, MSc, PhD) is Professor of Strategy and co-lead of the Digital Decarb Design Group at Loughborough Business School, Loughborough University. Ian has published extensively on digital transformation and the role of digital innovations for service value co-creation across private and public sector contexts. His work appears in internationally leading academic journals, industrial white papers and policy papers. A pioneer of the digital decarbonisation field, he has advanced new knowledge on the net-zero implications of digital transformations and the hidden environmental costs of organisations’ digital practices. Externally recognised as the co-founder of the digital decarbonisation movement, Ian co-developed the first publicly available digital decarbonisation toolkit to assist organisations on their digital sustainability journey. Ian’s work has informed national and international policy development in collaboration with the OECD.AI, the World Economic Forum, IEEE and the UK’s National Digital Twin Programme.
