Climate Change Specialist (Markets Development and PPPs)

Description

Gerrit has over 10 years of experience in development work globally and brings with him a wealth of experience in the field of climate finance, energy, and infrastructure finance, as well as carbon pricing and international carbon markets. He is working as Climate Change Specialist in ADB’s Office of Markets Development and Public Private Partnerships (OMDP), where he is supporting ongoing Transaction Advisory Mandates across energy, nature and urban infrastructure sectors and is leading the team’s carbon market advisory services, including project preparation support for large scale Forest Carbon PPPs. Prior to joining ADB, Gerrit worked at EBRD's climate department, where he sourced and structured donor-funded co-investment facilities and supported international climate policy dialogue. He also served as a Climate Finance Consultant at the Green Climate Fund’s Private Sector Facility, where he led the origination, structuring, and board approval of clean energy financing frameworks in India, South Africa, and Eastern Europe, totalling USD 480 million in GCF commitments. He began his career in the German development co-operation space, working with GIZ in India and later with KfW in its country offices in Namibia and Brazil.
