Description

Jenitha is the Senior Policy Advisor for Sustainability Programmes and Projects, at the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, since February 2003. Her professional experience spans across several sectors within the Green Economy and provides technical and strategic coordination through project planning and implementation of green economy initiatives (i.e., both mitigation and adaptation – related) across spheres of government, in collaboration with donor country partners, United Nations Agencies and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. She coordinates both multi-lateral and bilateral donor-funded programmes. Her experience also spans coordination of multilateral-funded programmes such as Partnership for Action on Green Economy, Switch Africa Green and Partnership for Green Growth and Global Goals, to advance implementation of Sustainable Development Goals. She has provided oversight on the National Green Fund. She has also been actively involved with industry partners and in capacitating small businesses (both formal and informal) on green enterprise development. Other activities include support to just energy transition, climate smart agriculture and sustainable food systems, event greening and carbon offsetting. Jenitha holds a PhD in Plant Pathology (University of Durban-Westville), a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Management, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (University of South Africa) an Executive Certificate in Environmental Governance, (Graduate Institute on International and Development Studies, Geneva- Switzerland) and a Certificate in Strategic Business Management (University of Cape Town).
