Description

Nick Singh brings over 27 years of experience specialising in Smart Grids and Control Systems. He currently serves as Head of the Smart Grids Centre of Expertise and Microgrid Programme Director at Eskom Research, Testing and Development. Nick leads a multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists and oversees laboratories dedicated to Smart Grid technologies, supporting the full electricity value chain – from generation and transmission to distribution and end-use. He plays a pivotal role in the rollout of systems within Eskom, including the assembly and manufacturing activities at Komati Power Station, which is being repurposed as part of Eskom’s Just Energy Transition. His background includes extensive expertise in Electronic Engineering and Project Management, with advanced training from the Graduate School of Business Leadership (UNISA, SBL) and Wits Business School in strategy execution. Nick also leads multiple Smart Grid collaborations between South Africa and international partners. He is a Board Member of the Global Smart Energy Federation (GSEF) and serves as the GSEF Ambassador for Anglophone Africa, actively contributing to global knowledge exchange in smart energy innovation.
