Description
Rob leads work on mobilising private capital for energy transition and infrastructure finance in the FCDO’s Private Sector & Capital Markets Department. Rob’s work focuses on scaling up the private capital mobilisation activities of MDBs and DFIs to deliver more investment for climate and wider development objectives, working with institutional investors to support greater take-up of investment opportunities in emerging markets and development economies (EMDEs) and expanding the pipeline of bankable projects. Rob’s team leads the FCDO’s engagement with the EMDE Investor Taskforce, and manages the UK’s investment in the Private Infrastructure Development Group and the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa.
Rob’s previous roles in the UK Civil Service have included working on finance and economics at the British Embassy in Beijing, leading the UK’s infrastructure and private sector work in Afghanistan and working on financial stability at HM Treasury in the aftermath of the Global Financial Crisis. Rob has also worked at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority implementing international standards on bank loss-absorbing capacity, and as a capital markets/securitisation lawyer in the private sector.
Rob holds an MSc in Economics (Birkbeck College, University of London) and degrees in International Relations (Open University) and Mathematics (University of Bristol).
