Trades and Apprenticeship – Canada
Cara Scales is the Executive Director of the Trades and Apprenticeship Division at Employment and Social Development Canada. Her team leads federal policy, program development and research in support of apprenticeship and skilled trades. Within this mandate, we work with internal and external partners, including the provinces and territories to: deliver on policy priorities and Budget initiatives, conduct research and analysis to strengthen the knowledge-base on apprenticeship, and explore and support innovative approaches to address challenges facing apprenticeship and the skilled trades. This includes responsibility for a suite of grants and contributions programming under the Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy, as well as collaborative work with the provinces and territories through the Canadian Council of Directors of Apprenticeship to manage the Red Seal Program for the skilled trades.
