Description

Ms Sharlin Hemraj is the Director for Environmental and Fuel Taxes at the National Treasury in South Africa. Her responsibilities include economic research and policy analysis to inform the design and implementation of environmental taxes and carbon taxation. Ms Hemraj has represented South Africa in the UNFCCC climate finance negotiations and led the review of the draft Nationally Determined Contribution commitments on behalf of the Presidential Climate Commission in 2021. She has completed a Master’s Degree in Environmental Economics and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and Economics.
