Description

Mario Monti is Senator of Italy, Former EU Commissioner for Competition, Former Prime Minister, Italy. Mr Monti served as a European Commissioner (1995 to 2004), with responsibility for the Internal Market, Financial Services and Taxation (1995-1999) and for Competition (1999-2004). He has taken the positions of Prime Minister (2011-2013) and Minister of Economy and Finance (2011-2012). In the midst of the European debt crisis, Monti was called to form a government of national unity, he served as the Prime Minister of Italy from 2011 to 2013 while also taking the position of Minister of Economy and Finance (2011-2012). Mr Monti studied economics and management at Bocconi University in Milan and pursued graduate studies at Yale University. He was professor of Economics at the University of Trento, at the University of Turin, and then at Bocconi University, where he became Rector then President.
