Bledi Taska is Chief Economist at Burning Glass Technologies. He is a labor economist specializing in the application of econometrics and statistics on real-time labor market data. At Burning Glass, Bledi leads a team of economists and data scientists, which supports the company’s public policy research, product development, and collaboration with academic researchers and international organizations.
Current research projects at Burning Glass involve topics around skills mismatch and the future of skills in the labor market, automation and career pathways, adoption of AI, and estimation of supply-demand gaps. Bledi has been invited to present at conferences and seminars organized by UNESCO, CEDEFOP, OECD, ILO, IZA, IADB, and the World Bank, among others.
Bledi’s work at Burning Glass has been published or featured in several popular media outlets from all over the world, such as the Australian Financial Review, the Daily Telegraph, the Economist, France 24, the Financial Time, The Guardian, the Globe and Mail, and the New York Times.
He received a doctorate degree in economics from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Athens, Greece. He has presented his academic research at the AAAI, Atlanta FED, the European Association of Labor Economists, the Midwest Economics Association, IZA, Stanford University, Carnegie Mellon University, and Indiana University.
