Description
Dr Irene Rioboo is an Economist and Statistician with expertise in the analysis and measurement of socio-economic inequalities from a comparative and policy-oriented perspective. Her research focuses on gender inequalities, examining their structural determinants and broader implications for social and economic development. She applies advanced statistical methodologies to generate robust evidence for policymaking at both national and European levels.
Dr Rioboo is currently a researcher at the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE), where she contributes to the development of the Gender Equality Index and to the monitoring of the Beijing Platform for Action in the European Union. Prior to joining EIGE, she held positions at Eurostat and Eurofound, where she worked on policy-relevant projects addressing socio-economic disparities. She also has an extensive academic background, having served for over 15 years as Professor of Applied Statistics, during which she led numerous research projects on gender-related issues, including the gender employment and pay gaps, female genital mutilation, gender-sensitive parliaments, gender and infrastructure, and intersecting inequalities.
