Biography
Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, a former IAS officer and four-term Member of Parliament from Bikaner, Rajasthan, has devoted his life to public service and progressive governance. Since becoming Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice in 2023 and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs in 2017, he has been a driving force in India’s legislative and judicial modernisation.
Widely recognised as the “Bicycle MP” for his commitment to sustainability and accessibility, Shri Meghwal has received the Sansad Maharatna and Sansad Ratna Awards for his exemplary parliamentary contributions. His leadership across key ministries — including Finance, Water Resources, Heavy Industries, and Culture — reflects his versatility in shaping national policy.
A champion of women’s empowerment, he played a pivotal role in passing the historic Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, ensuring 33% reservation for women in Parliament and State Assemblies. Under his stewardship, the Ministry of Law and Justice has advanced reforms in Alternative Dispute Resolution, expanding access to timely and affordable justice.
