Biography

Minister Nenad Vujić was born on 26 October, 1966 in Loznica, where he completed primary and secondary school. He graduated from the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade and passed the bar exam. He is a specialist in human and minority rights, the rights of refugees and displaced persons, labour and trade union rights, as well as the protection of human rights according to the European Convention and UN standards. From 2000 to 2003, he worked with the Norwegian Refugee Council, providing legal aid to refugees. He previously worked at the Humanitarian Law Centre, the Yugoslav Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights, and the Centre for Democratic Transition. From 2005 to 2009, he directed the Judicial Training Centre in Belgrade. From 2004 to 2005, he was a coordinator and lecturer in human rights training for judges and prosecutors. Since 2010, he has been the Director of the Judicial Academy, responsible for the management, planning and implementation of training programmes for judges and public prosecutors. He lectured on the European Convention on Human Rights, the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, juvenile justice, EU law, the EU arrest warrant, and evidence gathering. From 2013 to 2019, he was a member and President of the Commission for Judicial Reform. Since May 2021, he has coordinated Cluster 1 in EU accession negotiations. Since August 2024, he has been a member of the working group for drafting the Law on the Judicial Academy. He was appointed Minister of Justice in April 2025. He has published extensively, attended numerous seminars, and is fluent in English.
