Biography

Dr. José Suing Nagua is Acting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Justice of Ecuador and a Council Member of the Justice Studies Center of the Americas (CEJA). He holds a Law degree and Doctor of Jurisprudence from the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, a Master’s in Economics from Universidad de las Américas, and a Ph.D. in Law from Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar. With extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, Dr. Suing has advised autonomous governments and international institutions such as the Inter-American Development Bank and German Technical Cooperation. A distinguished academic, he has taught public and tax law at leading universities and authored several publications, including Derecho Municipal (2017), winner of the José María Velasco Ibarra Prize. His work focuses on judicial efficiency, transparency, and decentralisation in governance.
