Biography
Mariëlle Vavier is the Deputy Mayor for International Affairs of The Hague, where she also leads on Poverty, Inclusion, and Public Health. Guided by values of fairness, sustainability, solidarity, and freedom, she advances initiatives that make justice more inclusive and accessible. Under her leadership, The Hague will launch the Haagse Vrouwenrechtswinkel in 2025, a free legal help desk for women, and continues to expand innovative projects such as the Neighbourhood Judge, which brings swift and affordable dispute resolution to local communities. Through a people-centred approach, she strengthens The Hague’s role as the international city of peace and justice.
