Biography
Udo Jude Ilo is the CEO of HiiL and a renowned international expert on democracy, human rights, and civic space, with over 21 years of experience. His leadership has been shaped by a personal history of confronting dictatorship and impunity, fuelling his commitment to justice and citizen empowerment. He previously led the Open Society Foundations in Nigeria and held key roles at the Nigerian Bar Association, the Forum of Federations, and CIVIC. Udo is widely recognised for his innovative and empathetic approach to governance and reform. His recent book, It is POSSIBLE: Influencing Change in Nigeria, highlights the power of citizen-led transformation.
