Biography

Hilla Staib is a German lawyer who studied law in Heidelberg, Münster, and Paris. She gained extensive professional experience in the private and public sectors, working for several years as a lawyer at an international law firm in Berlin and in various departments at the German Federal Ministry of Justice. Her work covered areas such as digital regulation, civil law, and legal policy development. In 2023, she joined the European Commission as a policy officer in the Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers, working in the unit responsible for digital transition and judicial training. She is part of the team preparing a recommendation on model contractual terms for data sharing and Standard Contractual Clauses for cloud computing contracts according to the Data Act. Additionally, she is part of the AI in justice team, where she addresses issues at the intersection of law, technology, and fundamental rights. Her work focuses on the responsible and trustworthy use of artificial intelligence in the justice sector.
