Description

Mr. Kiuvu is a career tax professional with a wealth of experience in tax audit, investigation and administration spanning over 27 years. He joined the Kenya Income Tax Department, then under the Ministry of Finance in 1994 as an Income Tax Assessor. After two years of intensive training at the Kenya Income Tax Training School, he joined the Special Unit, which later became the Large Taxpayers Office. He spent the first nineteen (19) years of his working life in the Large Taxpayers Office where he rose through the ranks of Revenue Officer (1998), Senior Revenue Officer (2002), Principal Revenue Officer (2002), Assistant Commissioner (2008) and Senior Assistant Commissioner (2011). His specialization was in in the audit of the financial industry, with a bias for the insurance sector. In 2014, he joined the Investigations & Enforcement Department of Kenya Revenue Authority and assumed the position of Chief Manager - Investigations in March 2020. Mr. Kiuvu has been a part-time lecturer at the Kenya School of Revenue Administration (KESRA) from November 2018, handling the Investigations and Enforcement module of the Masters in Tax and Customs Administration course jointly administered by KESRA and Moi University. He is also a Trainer with the OECD Africa Academy for Tax and Financial Crime Investigation from Sept 2019. Mr. Kiuvu was nominated the Kenya Revenue Authority Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the area of Investigations in November 2020. He is also a member of the Kenya 2020 Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax purposes Peer Review Taskforce. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and French from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and an MBA from Kenyatta University, Kenya.
