Dr. Peter Wostner is an expert in R&D and innovation, smart specialisation, digital transformation, industry 4.0, territorial development and cohesion policies as well as EU budget. He has over 20 years of practical policy design and delivery experience, complemented by extensive research and international consulting experience from across Europe. Between 2004 and 2014 dr. Wostner worked at the Slovenian managing authority for European Structural Funds, for seven years at the director general level. In 2014 he became responsible for Slovenian Smart Specialisation Strategy, the S4, for which he designed the strategy’s conceptual framework, led the entrepreneurial discovery process with his team, set-up the Slovenian Strategic Research Innovation Partnerships and was also in charge for its delivery coordination. Since 2019 dr. Wostner works as senior analyst dealing with productivity, digital and structural transformation as well as territorial dimension at the Institute of Macroeconomic Analysis and Development, where he also edits the National Productivity Report. Since 2016 dr. Wostner serves as the chairman of the OECD’s Working Party on Rural Policy, and has been vice-chair of the Regional Development Policy Committee between 2012-2021.
