Description

Daniela Storti is a senior researcher at the Council for Agricultural Research and Economics – CREA. She is a policy expert in the field of rural development policies. She has held positions of responsibility for over 20 years within technical assistance programs for the implementation of public policies at National and European level. Over the years she has been in charge of many research projects and policy evaluation and authored over 100 publications (scientific papers, reports, guidelines, other technical documents, books). Her main fields of expertise are: agricultural and rural policies design and implementation; territorial analysis of local actor capacities, agricultural productions systems and local socio-economic potential; the definition and the implementation of local strategies and projects; rural areas classification; delimitation of intervention areas; rural policies impact assessment. She is Italian Delegate of the OECD RDPC/Rural Areas, member of the AG5 within the Eusalp Strategy (EU Strategy for the Alpine Region), Member of the Board of Directors of the Italian section of Regional Science Association International (AISRe), one of the founders of Riabitare l’Italia, an Italian Cultural Association and of Rete Appia, the Italian sheep farming network. Since 2012 she has been a Member of the National interministerial Committee that ensures the governance of the National Strategy for Inner Areas in Italy, a place based policy to stop population decrease in small municipalities and mountain areas. Within this framework she interfaces with local communities to define innovative local strategies for improving rural services and triggering local development projects. She earned a PhD in Institutions, Agriculture and Development Policies at the University la Sapienza of Rome, a Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Economics at the University of Connecticut and a Master’s degree in Agro-Food Economics at the Catholic University of Milan.
