Minister for Rural and Community Development
Heather Humphreys T.D. is the Minister for Social Protection and Minister for Rural and Community Development. She previously served as Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation and Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht. While serving as Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, she led the successful 2016 Centenary Programme and as Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation, she played a leading role in the government’s response to the unprecedented COVID-19 crisis. As Minister for Rural and Community Development she launched ‘Our Rural Future – Rural Development Policy 2021-2025’ on 29 March 2021. Our Rural Future is a whole-of-government policy for the sustainable development of rural Ireland and is the most ambitious and transformational policy for rural development in Ireland for decades.
